Red Flag:
The purchase date that Lenovo (manufacturer) has on record for the serial number of the $992.24 laptop that I bought from Walmart.com is Fall 2021.
But we bought the 'new' computer from Walmart.com on January 30, 2022.
The computer is defective. I spoke with both Lenovo and Walmart.com representatives and learned that Walmart purchased it from a third party, Mastertronics.com. Neither Mastertronics, nor Walmart has taken responsibility so far. According to Lenovo, the computer was originally purchased from Costco in Fall 2021. We don't even have a Costco account. It appears that Mastertronics.com purchase a used or returned, possibly refurbished computer from Costco and then sold it,as new, to Walmart.com, who sold it as new to my husband and me. The computer is defective and it was used. The touchscreen has tiny spiderweb cracks in it and sheds little pieces of glass. Now Mastertronics is ignoring my detailed emails that include full documentation and Walmart says [sorry, we got it from Mastertronics].
I’m questioning my Walmart experience as well. It seems that I purchased a defective, used, returned lemon computer from Walmart.com. One assumes when they do business with companies like Walmart, that the company will stand behind the products they sell and that there is honesty in describing what the product is (new does not mean used and returned and resold several months later). I am appalled that Walmart would do business in this manner, with a company like Mastertronics. I have emailed Mastertronics, with receipts, dates, serial and purchase numbers and receipt. Their only response is 'please elaborate'. Clearly they are not reading and acting on my very elaborate and fully documented email.
This is the sort of thing that is reported to the Federal Bureau of Consumer Protection. I see that Mastertronics sells to Amazon as well. I will share my experience with Amazon.
I am waiting for resolution. I want my $992.24 back.
I bought a phone from these guys and it kept saying package was delayed. So after waiting for over a month (I paid for expedited shipping by the way) I finally reached out to this seller to ask where my package was. They forced a refund on me without asking and I had to re buy the item from another seller for a steep increase in price. These people are terrible and I don't see why Walmart even let's them sell items on this store. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Unable to get refund. Thought I was buying a new computer but I found out after shipping it is used. No where did it say used. Nightmare to get help.
Mastertonics is terrible. They have refused to issue me a full refund on my recent purchase (unused, unopened merchandise) after charging not only an exorbitant "restocking fee" of over 20% but also deducting money for the sales tax I paid. Every attempt to communicate with them has led nowhere. Their only concern is that I remove my One-Star Amazon review, yet they have refused to directly acknowledge or redress my primary complaint. Then, they had the gall to threaten me with escalation; all over a matter that could have been cleared up with a simple message saying, "Were sorry, here's your remaining money back." I have never faced a company with worse service– and that is saying quite a lot. Communication stopped after I flatly refused to remove by one star review, and now legal action may be necessary. Fortunately, I have all their communications in writing where they admit to 1) skimming taxes, 2) offering quid-pro-quo, and 3) threatening escalation. I am certain the business oversight bureaus of California and Texas will find these documents quite useful in their follow-up actions.
ordered a Fitbit. very disappointed. came in bubble wrap not the original packaging. also did not send charger. the band looks used already. called customer service no answer and no response. I will be sending this back and if you try to charge me a restocking fee. I will call the BBB and report this fraudulent company
